PERFECT NOWHERE: CANADA DANCE FESTIVAL

Client: Canada Dance Festival
Collaborators: Maurizio Martignago & Yvonne Coutts
Year: 2002
Location: Ottawa, Canada

A collaboration between an architect and a choreographer, commissioned by the Canada Dance Festival. The work inhabits the open arch of a bridge which also contains an abandoned train turnaround tunnel carved out of its side. The piece, named Perfect Nowhere, explores the individual through the analytic dimension, volume, intimacy and memory of a forgotten and unknown space in the heart of Ottawa, steps away from Parliament Hill.

Perfect Nowhere also performed in the Arts Court Theater, proving to be a new expression of similar explorations and encounters as when the set transformed the Plaza Bridge location.
