This project encompassed the renovation of an existing 1920’s science building and the addition of a new biology research and teaching building. KWC’s role as laboratory consultant included programming, schematic design, concept development for laboratories and review laboratory contract documents. Building exterior was designed to fit within the context of the Georgian campus; the interior includes teaching labs, prep rooms, specific research labs for graduate students and teaching staff and incorporates flexibility through modular design of components and layouts. The building also contains an Animal Care Facility with specific emphasis on aquatic animals and includes salt and fresh water fish habitats, surgery and observation rooms. The building is designed to achieve a LEEDTM Gold rating.
