OAA LICENCED ARCHITECT / INTERN ARCHITECT WITH 5-8 YEARS EXPERIENCE

Job Description:

OAA Licensed Architect or Intern Architect with 5-8 years experience.

We are seeking a self-motivated individual capable of assuming increasing responsibility for both current and future projects and who is interested in growing with the firm. If you are someone that is highly organized with the skills and proven experience to manage design development, production of construction documents, and construction administration activities effectively and with a high level of technical knowledge and proven customer relationship capabilities, we are looking forward to meeting with you!

Duties and Responsibilities:

-Be responsible for various ongoing architectural projects and studies from beginning to end, working with (and reporting directly to) KWC’s project architect and other senior staff.
-Coordinating between clients, sub-consultant teams, and design and production teams to generate complete construction document packages.
-Lead or participate in production of design and contract documents, including NMS Specifications.
-Produce studies and reports.
-Oversee design and production of 3D design renderings and flythrough models.
-Oversee various zoning, site plan control, and building permit correspondence and coordination with authorities having jurisdiction.
-Oversee detailed, building code compliant, construction document drawings.
-Lead or participate in client and stakeholders’ meetings, sub-consultant coordination meetings, and on-site construction administration meetings.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:

QUALIFICATIONS
-Professional B.ARCH or M.ARCH university degree.
-Licensed in good standing with the OAA or registered Intern Architect with the OAA
-LEED/Passive House/Well/Green Globes Certification or similar is an asset.

EXPERIENCE
-Post graduation work experience must demonstrate minimum 5 years in architectural Office(s) in Ontario.
-Relevant experience in production documents and contract administration.
-Relevant field experience with construction site reviews.
-Demonstrated project management and leadership skills.
-Experience with the Ontario Building Code (Part 3 in particular) and applicable Zoning By-Laws.
-Work experience on government projects is a must.
-Work experience on multi-disciplinary projects is a must.
Heritage restoration and adaptive reuse work experience is an asset.

SKILLS
-Ability to manage time, deadlines, deliverables, and budgets on multiple time-sensitive tasks and projects concurrently.
-Ability to lead and manage a variety of building projects through documentation and
construction.
-Ability to work successfully in a team environment, lead junior staff, and communicate
clearly with peers, clients, sub-consultants, contractors, and governing authorities.
-Comfortable communicating in working groups of various sizes and able to work well with
others in a highly collaborative, team environment
-Must be well organised, disciplined, reliable and professionally presentable with excellent written and verbal English skills
-Proficiency in French is an asset.
-High Proficiency in current AutoCAD and Sketch Up or better is essential.
-High Proficiency in Revit is essential.
-Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite is essential.
-Proficiency in various rendering programs (Lumion, Enscape or similar) is an asset.
-Working knowledge of Microsoft Project is an asset.
-Positive attitude, dedication, and a desire to make a difference is essential.
